Spotting online gambling scams
Scams can imitate legitimate brands, promise guaranteed returns, or demand money and documents under pressure. Slow down and verify before you act.
Warning signs
- Promises of guaranteed wins, insider systems or risk-free profits.
- Requests for an upfront fee to release a withdrawal or “recover” losses.
- Unsolicited contact through social media, messaging apps or phone calls.
- Requests for passwords, bank credentials, verification codes or remote device access.
- Websites with unclear ownership, poor contact information or suspicious web addresses.
What to do
Stop contact, do not send further funds, save screenshots and contact your bank quickly if payment information was shared. Change passwords from a safe device where necessary.
